Household waste and recycling
Household decision-makers were asked to estimate the average amount of waste and recycling produced per household per week.
Most Victorian households had bins for general waste (98%) and recycling (94%). There has been an increase in households with a green or garden waste bin (from 59% in 2008 to 64% in 2009).
On average, households produced an estimated 12.9 kg of general waste and 6.1 kg of general recycling material each week (compared to 12.5 and 6.0, respectively in 2008).
